The Needham Family had agreed to share their family quilts for the quilt show. I did not count the exact number but estimate there were more than thirty quilts on exhibit. The quilts had been made by predominately one member of the family.
Tiny pieces sewn together with perfect points.

What a legacy!
I love displays of vintage family quilts. The pickle dish especially amazes me when you consider it may have been made without all of the tools and advantages we have in quilt making today.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely. It's wonderful when families share their rich quilting heritage. Thanks for sharing these beautiful quilts.

ReplyDeleteA legacy indeed! That first one is a very close copy of the quilt that won the 1933 World's Fair quilt competition. It is published in Marikay Waldvogel's book "Soft Covers for Hard Times".
