Liberty Hill Mantel

This weekend Mother Nature delivered fall.  Night time temps in the forties and daytime temps in the sixties.  A cool breeze which made a light sweater feel good and snuggling under a quilt all the more special.  While weeding and beginning garden clean up yesterday, I let my mind wonder.  I started thinking about decorating the mantel.  I was also thinking about the arrival of the latest Liberty Hill Harvest Home Pynbox.  Eureka!  Decorate the mantel with Liberty Hill--why didn't I think of this sooner?

Out came Salem House

and Tombstone Cupboard

Halloween Jack's Stitchers Wall Box

Added some Carriage House and Goode Huswife for fall color

and have left a space for the Harvest Pynbox and wool pumpkin.

Maybe I should weed more it seems to be good for creative juices. My aching muscles say no, am off to enjoy some delicious apple cider AppleJack brought home from the Farmers Market and enjoy the fall Liberty Hill mantel.

Harvest Home Pynboxe

They've done it again!  Liberty Hill and Historic Stitches have put their creative heads together and designed a beautiful fall pynbox.

Carolyn (Liberty Hill) has painted a beautiful Harvest Home pynboxe and Susan (Historic Stitches) has designed a crow gathering the acorns which lines the inside of the box lid. To add more goodness--a pumpkin pincushion made from weeks wools.

Life is good!

Liberty Hill and Hillside Samplings

In 2006 Carolyn (Liberty Hill) and Lesley (Hillside Samplings) put their heads together and painted  a wall box and designed a sewing roll.

So clever how Lesley took many of the elements from the hand painted wall box and incorporated them into the sewing roll.  (The inside of the sewing roll shows the rolling hills, the sheep on the hill, the red house and the tall trees)

The outside border of the painted wall box is painted black, the inside cover of the sewing roll is outlined with black stitches.

The wall box has a deer leaping from one rolling hill to another, the sewing roll has this handsome deer enjoying a stroll.

Inside of the sewing roll--a nice place for needles and the deer is a pocket.

Shhh, we are not going to talk about the wall box being painted in 2006, stitched in 2011 and finished in 2012.  Does everyone remember I am s l o w?  This is one of those pieces which brings a smile to my face each time I see it.

Tombstones

Liberty Hill First Colony Tombstone (the wire handle is one of my favorite things)

And just in time for fall 2012 is Halloween Jack, his face is too scary!  I found the owl scissors and thought they would work with scary Jack.

Liberty Hill Stitcher's Station

Liberty Hill has added to their collection!  The latest stitcher necessity is called Stitcher's Station.  There are three separate dividers, a special place for needles and a scissors block.  It is hand painted on all sides in the unique style of Liberty Hill.  A 4" ruler, handpainted threadwinder and a handmade paper pouch for needles is included.

There is a limited edition supply.   Silver Needle, Elegant Stitch, and Attic Needleworks are taking orders.  (They may be others, check and support your LNS).

Also on the horizon is the OnLine Needlework Show April 19-24.  Always fun to see the latest designs.  Kelmscott has a new needleminder called Friendship Claddagh.  Shhhh, don't tell AppleJack I am making a shopping list.
