When I was active with EGA, they had a wonderful event in July called Christmas in July.  Members would begin stitching a Christmas themed project.  It was lots of fun and resulted in an ornament for the tree.

Christmas at Hollyberry Farms was released in 2012 and I was super excited for a Christmas sampler design.

Well. . . it has taken me a few years.  The border is beautiful and one of my favorite parts about the sampler and it was the reason I cast the sampler aside because my border does not meet!  Please don't send the needlework police to my house and if you do, they will be expected to find the counting error and fix it!  That big old white house is another one of my favorite parts about the sampler and I got bored stitching all that white!  Stacy stitched her sampler with over dyed fibers mine is stitched with NPI silks which are not an exact match to hers.    

The completion of one project always begs the question:  what's next?

Annie Magnolia aka Anne Pennsylvania Peacock is off to the framers.  I put the finishing stitches in her this morning.  I'm going with the paper face (all the white part of the paper will be removed).

There were challenges, especially stitching the J in her name.  I got pretty bored stitching the border.  There are so many things I love about this sampler--her name, the proportions, the wonkiness of the border.

Time to choose a new project:  a WIP/PhD project, a quilt, a houswife, a new sampler?

Beating the Heat

Yesterday was Beat the Heat in Clarksville.  Isn't this a great rug?  The design is by Joan Moshimer

I learned how to lace hooked pieces to canvas.  A very creative hooker/artist.

Beating the Heat, a little hooking, a little retail therapy, creative juices running like water.

Carolyn brought her beautiful hexie quilt to share.  It is an heirloom beauty.  The hexes are 3/4" no two flowers are alike all made from Civil War reproduction fabric and when completed king size!

Delilah's birthday signature quilt.  The signatures are nieces, nephews, high school friends, church friends, sitching/hooking friends and co workers.  A great way to celebrate and remember a birthday.

A Beating the Heat bonus--I learned there is a Rebekah Smith workshop in September!  I called the Mooresville Mercantile and reserved the last spot!  

Annie Magnolia

Slowly but surely I am making progress on Annie Magnolia.  Stitching the J is giving me fits.  There just aren't many J's out there!  Please forgive the wrinkles, I took her out of the hoop without ironing.

There is still about one half of the border to stitch--it's mindless TV listening and stitching.

Will be adding some more personalization with Annie's birthday.

Slowing but surely she is becoming a real sampler.
